Excellent news for the Venezuelan community!
President Biden gives the green light to more than 320,000 Venezuelans to be granted Temporary Protected Status in the U.S. known as TPS, which protects them from deportation and grants them the benefit of having Work and Travel Permits, this due to the extreme situation of insecurity and other calamities in which the Maduro regime has subjected their country, which makes it difficult for many of them to return.
The measure will have a duration of 18 months from March 9, 2020 until September 9, 2022; However, the experience in terms of Temporary Protected Status granted to other countries, gives us hope that this measure could continue to be renewed indefinitely, until the possible approval of an immigration reform whose bill is currently before the US Congress for its prompt discussion and possible implementation, In this bill, it is contemplated to give priority of Permanent Residency to all those who have TPS Protected Status, which would give Permanent Residency not only to the communities that have enjoyed the benefit of TPS for many years, but also surely, the Venezuelan community would benefit from the Residency, with the favor of God.
It is important to note that Venezuelan TPS applicants must:
– Show continuous residency until March 8 of this year.
– Submit to security and background checks.
– In addition, applicants have 180 days to submit their applications, in this sense they must register with the TPS form, and to apply for the Work Permit the work permit form. They will also have the option to apply for a travel permit.
It is important to inform that the TPS immigration petition will be before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the cost is $50 for the application, $85 for the biometric data, plus $410 for the employment authorization.
