Starting December 21, officially, title 42 will be over.
But now what exactly does that mean?
Well, it means that now CBP officers, customs, and border patrol officers will have the discretion to either admit or deny admission at the border.
Now, they will retain that discretion, and it will be up to them to allow future asylum seekers to be able to enter the country or not.
This does not mean that. And a lot of people think that now there will be open borders. There’s no such thing. US immigration laws will still be enforced.
