Supreme Court Denies Administration’s Continuation of Priority Deportation Policy.
As many already know, President Biden’s administration had issued a statement implementing new deportation priorities. This was done in order to use the limited resources of national security and immigration agencies to arrest and deport individuals who are a threat to society or have a serious and extensive criminal history. However, U.S. District Judge Drew Tripton vacated the policy. The case has since been appealed and has reached the Supreme Court. With the case there, President Biden’s administration has asked the Supreme Court justices to continue the policy of prioritizing deportation. However, and here is the recent decision, the justices for the most part denied the administration’s request and, therefore, the deportation priority policy is no longer in effect. On the other hand, the court has not yet decided the merits of the case. This is expected to occur in November of this year. In other words, as it may continue, this policy may be rendered ineffective in its entirety.
