A federal judge ordered the government to continue processing immigration benefit applications filed by citizens of 39 countries, including Venezuela, Cuba, and Haiti. The decision states that the government cannot indefinitely suspend these applications solely based on the applicants’ nationality. The applications that must continue to be processed include: Work permits Permanent residence applications U.S. citizenship applications Asylum cases Although the government may still appeal this decision, for now, it provides relief to many people who have been waiting months for a response from USCIS.
