Recent immigration detentions in Doral have raised concerns, especially among the Venezuelan community and other immigrant families living in the city. In 2025, the Doral City Council approved a resolution to participate in the federal 287(g) program under what is known as the “Task Force Model.” This agreement may authorize certain local police officers, after receiving training and under ICE supervision, to perform specific immigration enforcement functions during their regular duties. This does not mean that every interaction with the police will result in immigration detention or that you lose your rights. If an officer questions you: • Remain calm and do not resist. • Ask whether you are free to leave. • You may exercise your right to remain silent. • Do not lie or present false documents. • Do not sign any documents you do not understand. • Ask to speak with your attorney.
