Asylum Interviews Are Now Discretionary (Not a Right).

Immigration Services announced that, from now on, Asylum interviews will be completely discretionary. If a person files an affirmative Asylum case, it is no longer guaranteed that they will be interviewed by an Asylum officer. Now the case can be referred directly to an Immigration Judge, without going through that prior interview. This means that many applicants will not have the opportunity to present their case before an Asylum officer before reaching Court, and will have practically a single opportunity to present it: in front of the Judge. That is why today it is more important than ever that, when filing an Asylum application, it is credible and has the arguments needed to have a real possibility of winning the case.
