One benefit is for those people who do not have a strong case or who need to buy time to try to find alternatives to try to gain legal status in this country without having to rely on a proceeding in front of the immigration court.‌

However, a very big disadvantage is for those people who have a strong case, but unfortunately their cases are going to take a long time to be processed because the immigration courts currently have an immense backlog. There are over 3 million cases currently in the immigration courts.
