A federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals determined that the termination of TPS for Venezuela was unlawful, according to national media reports. This decision represents a ray of hope for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans who had lost this temporary protection in the United States. However, it is important to understand that this ruling does not automatically restore TPS. The case could now reach the Supreme Court, which will have the final say on whether the program continues or is permanently terminated. In addition, Congress could also intervene with a legislative measure. At this time, people who had TPS should wait for new official instructions before assuming any change in their status. We will continue to monitor any updates regarding TPS and how it could impact the Venezuelan community. Each immigration case is different.
