Immigration will accept applications even if some blanks are left on the form.

Alert to Immigrants

From now on, it will no longer be a reason for rejection of forms submitted to Immigration if an applicant leaves blanks when filling them out.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced on its website that it is returning to the criteria for rejection of forms that applied before October 2019; among these forms are :

• Form I-589 (for asylum and suspension of deportation).
• Form I-612 (request for extension of foreign residence requirement);
• Form I-918 (petition for nonimmigrant status).

It is important to note however that the Immigration and Citizenship Services during the Trump Administration, specifically in 2019 ,not only changed the rejection criteria for blanks of the forms described above, but extended this criteria in August last year to all other procedures that the Immigration Agency USCIS offers to its applicants; including those applying for U.S. Citizenship.

It is important to inform our readers, however, that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) may reject the forms described above, or your case may take longer if the applicant leaves blank spaces required to be completed:

• Leaves blank spaces that are required to be completed
• Fails to respond to questions regarding requirements or filing, OR
• Omits any required initial evidence.
