ICE conducted one of its largest raids in recent years, arresting 366 undocumented immigrants with criminal records between Aug. 4 and Aug. 25.
According to ICE, most have records that make them deportable, including prior deportations and convictions for serious crimes such as homicide, child sexual assault and drug trafficking.
The raid targeted “deportation priorities” who pose a threat to public safety because of their backgrounds. The names and locations of those arrested were obtained through criminal and administrative records.
The raid was conducted under DHS deportation guidelines.
Detained immigrants have rights, such as asking to see a judge or not signing anything without first speaking to a lawyer. But this raid shows that ICE continues to focus on deporting those it considers dangerous criminals.
