A federal judge ordered the government to continue processing immigration benefit applications filed by citizens of 39 countries, including Venezuela, Cuba, and Haiti.
What does the decision establish?
The decision establishes that the government cannot indefinitely suspend these applications based solely on the applicants’ nationality. Among the processes that must continue to be processed are:
- Work permits
- Permanent residency (green card) applications
- U.S. citizenship applications
- Asylum cases
