Oftentimes, people who have TPS did not come to the U.S. legally or overstayed their visas. Therefore, that does not make them eligible to apply for adjustment of status. However, if someone has TPS they are allowed to apply for a travel document and by using that travel authorization they are able to leave the country and return to the United States.
