These changes went into effect after the new SB1718 law was passed in the Florida senate last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With E-Verify, employers can verify an employee&#8217;s social security number and identity information online to confirm they have legal permission to work in the United States. Before, the process could be complicated and required a lot of paperwork.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But under the new SB1718 law, USCIS has implemented changes to streamline the process. Now, employers can verify work permits directly through the E-Verify system without having to submit paper verification forms. Employers can also now use E-Verify to verify short-term work permits, like Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These changes mean employers can comply with legal requirements to verify employment eligibility more efficiently. Using E-Verify is mandatory in many states after hiring a new employee. With a simplified process, more employers will be able to use the system to ensure their employees have legal permission to work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Advocates argue these E-Verify changes also better protect workers&#8217; rights by reducing discrimination and ensuring valid work permits are recognized.
