Through the modernization of the online processing system, it is expected to expedite this process and reduce the need for travel, time and paperwork. This initiative seeks to promote family unity and is part of broader efforts to expand legal immigration to the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The new online system will allow applicants to complete most of the process online, which will save time and effort. This program, which is by invitation only, is accessed once a family reunification petition is approved. Previously, this process was paper-based and time-consuming. DHS expects that expediting new cases will also benefit pending cases, as consular officers will have fewer new cases to process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Benefits and requirements:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The digitized system does not require a consular interview and eligible beneficiaries do not need to physically be in Cuba or Haiti. In addition, the program applies to new cases, while existing cases will continue to use the previous system.
