Hopes are rising in our immigrant community after the recent approvals of two immigration bills in the U.S. House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
The American Promises and Dreams Act and the Agricultural Modernization Act, both introduced and passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, would give hope to Dreamers, those covered by the TPS protection status, those under the Deferred Mandatory Departure known as DED, and Farmworkers to obtain Permanent Residency, with a path to Citizenship.<\/p>\n
It is estimated that the approval of these two immigration laws would open the path to citizenship for about 4.5 million Dreamers and those covered by TPS and DED, while Farmworkers would be 1.25 million according to the study conducted by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI).<\/p>\n
It is important to note that the final approval of these two bills requires the approval of the Senate, where the composition of political forces of those who are for and those who are against is 50 and 50 votes, and the normal or regulatory to be able to execute this law is 60 votes in favor, which unfortunately unfortunately apparently they do not have, which would be difficult to pass; However, it is good to inform our immigrant community, that those in favor in the Senate to materialize these two laws, are working to use the figure known as “Reconciliation” that would allow approval of these projects by simple majority.<\/p>\n
