Tremaine Hemans, Associate attorney, is Jamaican by birth and has several years of experience working in the field of immigration law. Attorney Tremaine earned her Juris Doctorate from the Florida International University College of Law and worked as an intern in the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the Office of the Chief Counsel, Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OCC/OPLA) and also served as a student attorney in the Carlos A. Costa Immgration and Human Rights Clinic. During her time there, she honed her skills in the immigration system, litigation and OCC/OPLA and the courts. She is a member of the Miami chapter of AILA. Tremaine stands out in litigation and is an expert in legal writing, as she was a member of the FIU Law Trial Team and is a published author of “The Intersection of Race, Bond and ‘Crimmigration' in the United States Immigration Detention System” which is published on legal databases Westlaw and LexisNexis.
Tremaine likes to participate in church activities and spend time with her family, especially her husband. A proud immigrant herself, Tremaine is a defender of human rights and is passionate about helping the immigrant community and others. She has a strong desire to advocate for the rights of immigrants.
